Hosting a Traveling Community: The Guest House Experience
Beautifully renovated, light-filled and comfortably elegant, the Woodley Park Guest House delights both new and returning guests. With thoughtfully appointed rooms and inviting public spaces, the Guest House offers you a peaceful retreat in a lush, historic DC enclave. The Guest House experience is one of congeniality and community. Owners Laura and Raymond Saba, along with inkeepers Betty and Jerry, meet guests at breakfast and introduce them to one another. The conversations that start at the breakfast table spill over into evenings on the front porch or after-dinner chats in the living room. Many of our guests return over and over again - and even those who visit DC only once leave as friends and family.

A Highly Desirable Neighborhood
The Guest House puts everything you want to see and do in DC within easy reach. Located in a beautiful, safe, historic neighborhood, we are just steps from the entrance to the Woodley Park/Zoo/Adams Morgan Metro station, along an avenue that offers you dozens of excellent restaurant choices serving a wide variety of international cuisines. A quick walk takes you to the National Cathedral, the National Zoo or the running trails in Rock Creek Park. American University, Georgetown, and George Washington Universities are all close by, as are several of DC's largest conference hotels, making us the perfect home base for business or leisure travel.

The People Who Choose to Stay With Us
In the 25+ years we have owned the Guest House, we have welcomed a vibrant travelling community - more than 25,000 travellers to date - from every state and nation and from every walk of life. Our guests share many common characteristics, including the love of travel and of diverse peoples, cultures, traditions and physical environments. Every day we host an every-changing community of artists, lawyers, writers, medical professionals, educators, visionaries, legislators, executives and administrators. Our guests are generous people, willing to share their lives and experiences, their stories and their humor. For 25+ years we have looked forward to meeting you - or welcoming you back - every morning at breakfast!

A Love of Art
Laura and Raymond have been collecting art since before they got married more than 50 years ago. From the beginning, they made a commitment to buy original pieces from living artists, many of whom have become close friends. They Saba's love the light and life artwork brings to a room. (They intensely dislike "corporate" art, which is like spam in your inbox: as soon as you see it, you wants to delete it!) Almost every piece that deocrates the rooms and hallways of the Guest House has been purchased from artists who have stayed with us. Heather Craig, Beto Rossi, Justina Selinger, Shoshana Ahart, and Claude Kattan are among the artists represented in the collection. Two whimsical quilts by Deborah Banyas are family heirlooms, purchased when Laura and Raymond's children were young. They are now the iconic images of the Guest House.

Restful Rooms
Each of our guest rooms is a quiet, uncluttered, well-furnished, and spotlessly clean oasis featuring original artwork, beautiful Persian carpets and lovely furnishings. Each room exhibits an attention to detail that emphasizes your comfort and convenience. Beds have luxurious linens for a fabulous night's sleep. On either side of the bed is a bedside table with a good lamp for reading and space for glasses, phones, books, or a plate of cookies or a glass of wine. Every room for two guests needs two comfortable chairs for planning the day - or reviewing the day. Closets need enough hangers, and bathrooms need enough hooks and towel racks for your robe and your towels. We know what we like when we travel, and what we miss if it isn't there - and we have furnished our rooms accordingly.

Delicious Food!
Eating well can be hard when you are traveling, especially if, like us, you want food that is delilcious, healthy and not too full of useless calories. At the Guest House you start the day with a breakfast buffet featuring healthy, local, and organic choices - paired with exceptional coffee. When you return to the house in the afternoon, you will find delicious snacks waiting for you. (Full disclosure: snacks contain useless calories, but the calories don't count if you spent the day walking thousands of steps around the National Mall.) Enjoy your snacks with a cup of tea on the front porch, then finish the day with a delicious dinner at one of the excellent restaurants located steps from our front door.

Words from our guests...
- OutstandingOur stay in this place was great. It's a 2 min walk from the nearest metro (red line) and to restaurants around the area. The staff was lovely and welcoming, would definitely stay here again! It's located really close to the Zoo as well as to restaurants and convenient stores The Guest House includes breakfast and it caters Gluten free diatery requirements. I'm gluten free and every morning I was given GF bread, as well as some general other meals which are naturally gluten free.
- Immaculately clean, friendly teamThis is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed at the Woodley Park Guest House. It continues to be immaculately clean. The team is friendly and helpful. The owners are usually on property in the morning. The owners and the other guests have some great tips for nearby restaurants and museums. An added benefit is that the Guest House is less than a block from the Woodley Park Metro station. Highly recommend.
- Top Place To Stay In DC!The big hotels in DC are either a) run down or b) way too expensive. This spot is a welcome relief. Safe, ultra convenient, and charming, it features great rooms, a wonderful breakfast, and pleasant, kind owners who take the time to make sure all their guests feel “at home”. Location is a couple hundred feet from restaurants, bars, a Metro stop, and a major artery, yet it feels like you are in a quiet , residential neighborhood. Rooms are spacious and attractively appointed. Simply could not be better! Highly recommended.
- Solo TravelerI stayed 2 nights for a conference. This was so much better than staying at the main hotel which was just a few blocks away. The hosts are absolutely lovely and most of the guests were repeat customers which speaks volumes about how welcoming they are. Good breakfast which is around a communal dining table which encourages conversing with the other guests. I had a small room on the top floor under the slope of the roof which was just fine for me. The bed was comfy and the shower hot. There are also snacks at the front desk which was perfect after a long day sitting in a ballroom.
- Repeat VacationI think it is the best place ever. Owner sits at the breakfast table with you and chats. All of the staff is lovely. Rooms are all different and furnished with unique pieces plus hand done artwork. Close to Metro stop plus easy walk to Connecticut Ave stores and restaurants.
